When I look out at the world in my journey through the day, sometimes I forget to really see it. Perhaps that is why my drawing class was so good for me. It helped me to see beyond my thoughts. We always resolve to see God’s beauty at every moment. It is a precious, precious, lovely world in so many ways. There are stories of people doing loving things that really restore my faith in humanity. It keeps me from giving up when reality is smacking me in the face. I love to hear Louis Armstrong’s wonderful joyous voice singing “What a Wonderful World”. I mean that is one happy, heartwarming, tear-jerker of a song.
Anyway, in light of my little idea of looking out at the world and noticing little things, I did want to share my charcoal sketch of a landscape. I drew this in class. The professor put his photo of his sketch of this landscape. So we drew it from that. That seemed to help me quite a bit. My perspectives in the drawing are a little off, but even so, I love the details I noticed from his sketch that I then put in mine. It was amazing once again to see each of my fellow students’ creations of the same drawing. It reminded me a bit of the scene from the movie Mona Lisa Smiles….each of Julia Roberts’ students had done a paint by number painting of Van Gogh’s Sunflowers. Every single one was different. God made each of us special and unique. We all need each other in order to see the world. Many lenses. One world. Blessings on your day.

you’re welcome….turned out i could do a teensy bit of perspective drawing. my prof had to adjust a couple of my lines but even he said “Hmm—not too bad, kate”….i laughed. loudly.
I really like this picture a lot. What a wonderful world indeed. And what a treat to hear Louis Armstrong’s voice! About being different, it reminds me, when we were given a certain subject to write a story about, all in our class would write their stories in a completely different way! The teacher was always amazed how different our writing was.

Thanks Aunty Uta! By the way they were talking tonight about the lunar eclipse that was this morning. They said that the view of it in Australia was the best place in the world to see it. Did you see it? Gosh I remember similar times when we had to write in school, too. Thanks for the reminder!

We couldn’t see the lunar eclipse. Too many clouds!
That’d be a problem! We didn’t see it either….because it happened around 5 or 530 in the morning and we were sound asleep 🙂
We were sound asleep too. We knew there were clouds, so we didn’t stay up. Next morning at 9 o’clock we were on the train to Sydney again.

Actually before we travel to Melbourne we have to travel to Sydney a few more times. I am very much looking forward to a relaxing Christmas!
The Observatory in Sydney could take excellent pictures of the lunar eclipse. They were lucky that they had no clouds in Sydney at the time.
I bet that is the source of the pictures they showed on the news here. I’m looking forward to a relaxing Christmas too. I’ve been so busy tutoring, shopping, and shipping gifts that I haven’t had time to blog all week. Hoping to catch up on my posts today as I tutor on Sunday and most of the week this coming week.
