I don’t know about you, but I am feeling reflective and a bit introspective. There is so much going on in the world that it is easy to miss the little joys around me unless I take time to notice them.
There are joys in nature ~ a singing bird, wispy clouds, sunshine, the hours of daylight getting gradually longer.
I need a lot of sunshine, and lately there has been quite a bit.
Beyond these random things, i find joy in noticing ways i can lend a hand in tiny ways. Here is a tiny example. A lady in front of me in the store aisle dropped her list. I picked it up and handed it to her. This brought a big smile to her face. That added sunshine to my face.
One of my teachers said to me on multiple occasions, “row with the oars you have”. Sometimes we may feel that those around us have big, powerful boats moving along by big sails or oars or motors.
But guess what? Our little boats have oars that are just right for out journey.
Keep rowing folks, it is a good journey … even in rough waters.
Row with the oars you have — I love that saying! It reminds me of a quote in the animated film Finding Nemo by Dory, the forgetful fish – “Just keep swimming, just keep swimming.”
