Jake’s Sunday Challenge this week focuses on Design…it could be interior design, architecture, or any number of things. http://jakesprinters.wordpress.com/2012/03/10/sunday-post-design/
Now I recently saw Taliesin West~ which is the school of architecture that the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright founded. I am including here a photo of the design studio from there (exterior shot) followed by a photo of one of the most famous Wright structures in the world~ Falling Water.
Ok here is the Taliesin West shot — note how he builds into what he calls the “brow of the mountain” The fancier photo is a shot of Falling Water near Pittsburgh, PA [I did NOT take that photo: that is one of those reliable royalty-free photos].
Hi Kate–I meant to tell you, re an earlier post on Taliesen West, that I loved the perfect triangle pool!! That was way cool!! I really appreciate how you introduce me to things I never thought I was interested in before, like architecture, Frank Lloyd Wright. Maybe we (I) have to like “somebody” first, and then we get excited about the things which interest them?! God bless you today, sis.
I loved the triangle pool to. Our guide told us all the triangles (the pool and in the architecture too) are perfect 30-60-90 triangles. I was just covering that concept with my geometry students that I tutor. RE architecture—i never noticed it until i took a course in it during my semester in Rome in college. Then I heard all the chatter re FL Wright among the architecture students…God bless you too, sis!
so love how the use of the brow of the mountain was used so effectivily.
I thought it was amazingly cool when the guide pointed it out!
Amazing, beautiful architectural design. Such an inspiration . Thanks. Have a blessed day…
Frank Lloyd Wright’s designs are truly inspiring and uplifting.
WOW! It is amazing… Thank you dear Kate, with my love, nia
Thanks, Nia. Our docent/guide was so incredibly knowledgeable about Frank Lloyd Wright. I found myself completely captivated by his talk. As a result, I frequently forgot to take photos!
