Who is your favorite parent? My parents were a perfect team. There was no dividing them. So when asked who I was closest to, my mom or my dad, it was a question that made little sense. It often depended on what I was struggling with or what I was celebrating, or what I wanted to discuss. I ultimately ended up discussing it with both of them. Often I’d discuss it with them one at a time—because that is how i think and communicate the best. They are both my favorite. I needed them both. It has been a few years since my dad died, and I miss him dearly. But the best way for me to be in touch with dad is to talk to mom. I am close to my mom—and talk to her most days across the miles. We laugh, we swap stories, we discuss you name it. Dad and I would do the same thing over the years, too. Both my parents had this going for them: Faith-filled; strong marriage; loving; Wise; smart; funny; interesting; well-informed; well-read; education was important to them and so was family; loving; and I know I will think of more and edit multiple times.

I am a perennial optimist

I Am Becoming the Me I Was Born To Be
As I journey through this part of my life I have discovered my next mountain. The key is to be the me I want to be in the world, as my gift back to God.-
