Is there a cure for stupidity? Daily Post Topic # 331

Is there a cure for stupidity?. Stupidity can mean a few different things here. If we define it as lack of knowledge I would say there is a cure for it. The cure is learning and an excellent tutor–or at least a tutor willing to stand in the trenches with you (like me 🙂 ). But that isn’t really what stupidity is by my definition, anyway.

Stupidity is sometimes used to mean someone that is inexperienced or naive. But that isn’t necessarily stupid unless the person is completely unwilling to learn from his/her mistakes. Then the cure would be to let the person suffer the consequences and hope that the person learns to change.

But if we define stupidity to mean someone that insists on doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results—well that is stupid. I don’t know if there is a cure for that! ;-).

About Kate Kresse

Refering to this kind of stupidity I heard people say: ‘Only God can help him.’

I heard that one too! The question itself made me laugh. I could hear the chiding of many of the teachers of my youth when I considered this question. They were always on me for “not working up to my abilities”. Now that I am a tutor I REALLY understand what they meant. Now that I am a tutor I REALLY understand how they knew.

    Not to mention plain crazy!
