My very dear friend Pattie shared this photo on New Year’s Eve. She is one amazing and fabulous friend. I do not know what I would do without her. The photo inspired me to write this post.
Yes, the pages of the new year are blank, and we choose the direction our story will take. It does NOT matter what the past year(s) brought. So we turn the page. Can you feel it? Can you sense the promise on those unwritten pages? This evening, I can. Is the promise of the future worth the courage it takes to begin anew? Oh I know that there are times when we wonder. But you know what? Let’s pretend for a minute that right around the corner are wonderful days. There will be days that bring some joy and happiness that is so grand that you will nearly weep with joy.
There will be sunrises and sunsets that are richly hued. There will be songbirds on branches and bare trees that reveal vast wintry skies. There will be strangers that smile. There will be the people who affirm you and help you to know that you are loved. You will have chances to give from your heart and make a difference. There will be stories and poems and photography and music that will touch your heart. You will tell your stories and open up and share. And when you do, the word will become more beautiful.
Yes it is worth it. Keep marching forward. Life beats us down. But life lifts us back up to our feet. I say that we must open our new book. Turn the page. Pick up the pen of your life and write your next chapter. Feeling excited? Believe that it is for real. Life is so full of love and beauty. Feeling down or scared? Well, guess what? Through pain, sorrow, loss, or sickness, grab a handhold on the rocky mountain of life. Believe anyway. Life is worth it. Your new book will have 365 chapters. Are you ready to begin?
I wish you courage, strength, stamina, faith, joy, love, and so much more. Godspeed ~ welcome 2014
