Tomorrow is Thanksgiving day. At last. We shall pause, to give thanks. Despite the shopping rush, the chaos of consumerism and more, we WILL give thanks. We will. My little family will have a lovely time together. I am really, really fortunate. The three of us are a team. We mesh, we laugh, we work together. I look forward to our times together. I have only one of my students today, and some final errands for the holiday weekend food. Tonight I will make the pies, and the meal tomorrow. But it will be a happy hustle and bustle. The Macy’s parade is a must. It always is ~ but this year especially. You see, some of my students attend Mountain View High School in Mesa, AZ. Their high school band will be in the parade. No, none of my students are in the band ~ but it is exciting, just the same. Was it REALLY all that long ago that we were in high school? Yes and no.
I realize that the holidays are not a happy time for everyone. Some have to suffer through really difficult gatherings, filled with dysfunction and miserable times. Some have had huge losses. May the hope of better times in the future sustain you through the struggles. On your sailboat of life, as the storms batter you–and you feel soaked to the skin, know that the storms will lessen, and the shoreline will come into view. It is there, off in the mists; like Brigadoon. God has your back, even when no one else does. He will lift you up and hold you in His arms. He pours His love upon you; He heals, and always will.
Happy Thanksgiving, dear friend and reader. I wish you buckets of love.
I am always encouraged by you Kate. May your Thanksgiving Day be blessed!
You made my day when you said that. Thanks so very, very much. Encouragement is one of the things I DO try to give; in my blog and my tutoring. My heart aches for the discouraged and despairing….
Have a lovely Thanksgiving, my dear.
It was a very peaceful and blessed day Kate! Thanks!
ours too—a lovely quiet day; no chaos, all love.
Happy Thanksgiving Kate…..praise God for all his blessings!
praising God from whom all blessings flow….have a joyous Thanksgiving!
The pies? explain to a Brit please? 🙂
Ah sorry! Pumpkin pie and mince meat pie — for dessert!
Kate, the reference to Brigadoon made me smile. Thanks! I am so glad God has our backs. Thanks for the visual, and the reminder.
We will think of you as we watch Macy’s Parade too. And we just love your family!
Hugs to you beloved ones!! Wish we could be together♥
