Remember this: those with true eyes that see your heart are committed to love. They are committed to caring for you. Remember this as well. Rejoice about a friend who “gets” you. You know that wondrous feeling that you get when you are talking to a true friend? You almost complete each other’s sentences, don’t you. Or it can be a look in the friend’s eyes. Or it can be a feeling in your heart.
Ah, it is a joyous feeling. There have been more times in my life that I deserve, really. I have had friends that almost literally pick me up when my heart is breaking. They celebrate so joyously when goodness and blessings come my way. Perhaps that is one of the man reasons I remain an optimist. You see, the good always outweighs the bad in the end. In the midst of the campfire, someone always brings the chocolates, another the graham crackers, still another the marshmallows. When I cannot find a green enough stick, someone else always can.
It is no wonder that God has given me a lengthy to-do list in life. No i don’t mean laundry and the like. I mean life-tasks. You see, He provides me all I need. He provides each of us all we need—including comfort when we don’t get what we only think we need! As we look back over spans of years, we can really see it. We can see that there were always folks to help us along. Sometimes they were nearby’ sometimes far away; sometimes in heaven. But always He gives.
So I think when we think about it, it is a comfort. Even if someone shocks you and knocks you down, before you even hit the canvas, He is there. He picks you up, dusts you off, and faces you towards the love. Always. He promised. He always keeps His promise. So if you feel like you just got knocked to the canvas, realize this: He has chosen a confidante to bandage your wounds, bring you a laugh and cheer you on.
And….the s’mores are always headed your way.
