Beauty

” Thornton Wilder wrote that “We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures”. What indeed does make us conscious of our treasures? I don’t always stop to think about my own treasures. I mean, we were taught not to count up our own great things, weren’t we? We were taught to be humble. What are our treasures>

I am not talking here about material possessions. I am talking about what and who we love and cherish. I am also talking about our talents and gifts; as it so happens, these are the things others cherish about us. Yet we were also taught to not bury our talents and treasures in the backyard. Woe to the wicked servant in the bible that did that! So, indeed, we must grow our gifts. you see, when we are conscious of our gifts we become mindful of what we can do to make them better.

Courage is what helps us move forward when we are ready to give up. Each step we take in accomplishing our purpose in this life makes us more beautiful. Each time we hold our head up despite the sorrow or laugh with joy, we grow more beautiful. You are beautiful. Yes, you.

  1. This was a much needed talk for me today. xx

  2. The Bible says: Where your heart is, there will your treasure be, also. If we hang our hearts on anything but Jesus, our treasure will be fleeting, indeed. Jesus said, “If you continue in My WORD, you will know the TRUTH, and the truth will make you FREE.

I treasure the Word. I treasure Truth, And I treasure true Freedom.

Can’t take those away from those who actually have them.

They’re about to try and take all the rest, though, so it’s a good time to get the things that no one can take or outlaw! 🙂

Those are treasures that need constant tending. It’s good to remind us of their importance.

Isn’t it ironic that the things that are the most important sometimes get set aside, and the mundane takes over? Each day should find us in the Garden with the Gardener, despite all of our other duties!–kate
