A Double Hitter–not baseball, awards

This double header is of a human variety. Two different blogger friends/blogger-ettes blessed me with awards!!! First I am telling you about the awards (two ladies, three awards). Then the rules.

My friend DanLrene at http://workthedream.wordpress.com/2012/06/08/the-illuminating-blogger-award-and-the-one-lovely-blog-award/ nominated me for the one lovely blog award. I procrastinated about that beyond a ridiculous point! Go visit this amazingly, incredibly inspirational lady! Thank you so much for the award.

THEN, my friend Dor over in Virginia nominated me for two awards at the same time! I just about banged my chin on the floor in surprise! If you haven’t been to Dor’s blog you are missing out. I will wait right here while you check it out! Be quicker than I was—it took me a ridiculous month to post this! http://countryliving4beginners.wordpress.com/2012/07/30/double-hitter-awards/. Hey, are you still here? ;-). You will love Dor-land!

OK. I hope you poked around and saw some of her posts!

Here are the awards from Dor!

Here are the rules:

Thank the blogger and provide a link to his/her site: Check this one off!
Share seven things about yourself :

1. I like Peppermint Stick Ice Cream because a character in the book Beany Malone loved Peppermint Stick Ice Cream!

2. I began to be interested in being a writer when I was 7 or 8 because Betsy Ray (in the Maud Hart Lovelace’s Betsy-Tacy series) wanted to be a writer and became one.

3. I decided to BE Jo March (Little Women)—she became a writer and a teacher. Guess what, I actually am like Jo!

4. My favorite pair of shoes ever was my en pointe shoes (my toe shoes)

5. I learned to love public speaking and giving presentations and being in front of a group because of how my parents handled birthday parties. The candles on the cake would be lit. We would sing Happy birthday. Then each person at the party in turn would either sing a song, or recite a poem, or tell a joke. then we would sing happy birthday again and blow out the candles. In my home, we continued the tradition.

6. I had cousins before I had brothers. Cousins are forever friends. I do mean forever.

7. My husband is the only guy I ever dated that had his own umbrella. He brought it along on our first date. In retrospect, that was incredibly hot.

Nominate seven  bloggers for the award(s) and notify them of the nomination(s),And – you can post an award badge or both badges to your own site (optional). Ok i broke this rule and did 12. and you can take all of the awards, some of the awards or none. Hi Kate,

Congratulations! I really enjoyed reading the seven things you shared about yourself. Really cool stuff. 🙂 Number 5 is a wonderful family tradition! Thank you so much for nominating me for these awards! I truly appreciate you thinking of me, and thank you for the wonderful recommendation of my blog. You are such a caring person. I have already been nominated for these awards, and I have accepted them. However, I did not want to miss this opportunity to thank you for nominating me again, and to congratulate you on your nomination for these awards! My sincere thanks, again! God bless you, and have a wonderful day! 🙂

    Paulette

    • Kate Kresse says:

I figured you had been nominated before. I used to check through various blogs and try to find who had and hadn’t been nominated. That took more time than I wanted to set aside. Hence the awards piled up waiting to be handed out. this time i decided to just hand them out to whichever bloggers I wanted to. I knew they could sort out whether or not they chose to hand them out, without pressure or expectation from me. I just wanted folks to know the admiration and appreciation I have for them. God bless you too….and it is a very cool tradition (#5)—i always thought it was fun, but didn’t realize the ripple effect it had throughout my life! —kate

  7. niasunset says:

Thank you for honoring me with these awards! I so glad that your path crossed mine. Your words inspire and uplift me.

I will try to pay these forward, but I have to admit that I am miserable about these things. I have the best of intentions and then time gets away from me. But still, I’ll promise to try.

    Thank you, Kate!

    • Kate Kresse says:

No worries, Terri—just enjoy! Someday if you feel like it or you think someone needs it, pass it on. No pressure, no worries, okay? really—i promise not to check up on you. it’s all good!
