We went to our outstanding dermatologist today. He said that it isn’t cellulitis nor is it athlete’s foot. Rather, he suspects Raynaud’s Syndrome, and had us make an appointment with my son’s rheumatologist for tomorrow. He also recommended that I have the rheumatologist order some specific blood tests etc. Apparently this complication can occur with lupus.

Isn’t it amazing to see that in a blog you can connect the whole world in prayer. I find that totally breathtaking. I have seriously taken you both into my heart and I will continue to pray for your son, of course, and for you, a mother who hurts for her son! A friend of ours just left UCLA following a stem cell transplant. They released him weeks early because they said he has done so well it is nothing short of a miracle. There is no explanation other than prayer for how well he has done. I do believe in miracles. So I’m asking God for His divine healing power for your son. Let’s hold onto prayer through this particular journey and just KNOW that God is right there holding your hands. oxo Debra

I have had lupus for over 17 years. My thoughts are with you. There are some amazing things they can do now a days.
I am amazed at the expertise of the docs on my son’s team. Have you found good resources, and do you know of nutritional things that help lupus in addition to the meds?
I did not see your comment, my apologies. I am on a gluten and dairy free diet. I maximize proteins and try to eat a lot of veggies. It has seemed to really help with inflamation which is a big problem for me. – Lorian
dairy and egg free has helped my husband with his inflammation issues too. I wonder if I it plays a role in my son’s lupus? He currently isn’t having flare-ups, but I wonder if that is a piece of it for him as well—and the gluten….that is something for me to look into.

Oh Sis, I was thinking of you and Josh today, wondering if I should email you. I will step up the prayers as you seek more specific medical help–and I stand firm in agreement with what Susan M said, “look not to the circumstances, but to the greatness of Our God”. Praising God for His difinitive answer. Knowing what your son is dealing with is a good start in fighting that which is finding its way to his body. I’ve lit my prayer candle in his name morning and night. My thoughts and prayers for his dad and mom too, for that sense of helplesness is a hard one to fight alone. Gentlest hugs for all three ~

Oh, Kate, how anxious you must be feeling. This is not what you wanted to hear since he seemed like he was on the mend. Don’t hesitate to ask the docs as many questions as you need and I’m sure you will do all the research. Knowledge is power. Praying for your family.
Boy you nailed that right. by the time we got to the rheumatologist today i was a wreck. his diagnosis was acrocyanosis with a fungus to boot. he said that he has great arterial pulses, and does not have reynards. so feeling better today knowing that it is still manageable. thank you for your prayers, kindness, and support. it really means so much.
