My son has lupus and sometimes his immune system literally fights him. He has had some kind of funky stuff going in some of his toes. He has been putting antibiotic ointment on them and draining them when they get fluidy. Tonight some of them were significantly worse. By then the urgent care and the doctors offices were closed. We headed to the ER. They immediately put him on IV antibiotics, and sent him home with us and gave us prescriptions for 2 other antibiotics to be taken for 10 additional days, and warned us severely to follow-up on Monday with one of his docs. They said not to let something like this go and manage it on our own without medical attention, that he could lose his toes by doing that.
Their initial diagnosis was cellulitis. I hope and pray that that is all that it is and that it responds quickly to his antibiotics. So I ask you to pray for healing with all your hearts. We will be monitoring him. Pray, pray, pray.
Oh sweetie and son, I am praying. It may be going on 4am here I still got up and lit my prayer candle after reading this and before responding. I wanted to be able to tell you that the little light that flickers in my home is nothing compared with the Huge light that flickers in my heart of prayer’s for your boy. I know he is a young man a gentle man, but today he is your baby boy again.
God bless you all three, papa bear, mama bear and baby bear… please know that I ask God to lift that baby bearof yours up, and heal his feet right away.
In His Name I pray ~
Please keep us posted Kate?
Thanks sweet friend. My heart is clinging to hope—when he had a serious infection last year he responded fairly quickly to antibiotics. I pray that this clears up quickly. He had the IV and one round of antibiotics before heading to bed. We are all home, and my men are sleeping. I am awake and praying. Thanks for your prayers. Love you.
We are not going to think any different. As your guys are sleeping your prayers and those who adore you, and your family are sending messages to his body and accelerating the antibiotics for fast benifit.
The image of you praying quietly while your men aleep is a powerful image, one that I beleive our Lord wants us to see. Sending healing prayers today, and always for a beauiful family that enhances our world. God’s Blessongs ~
Thanks~while I was praying, Josh came downstairs for a drink of water, some yogurt, and another round of antibiotics. He sounded peaceful; you know how you can hear it in their voices? We sat and talked a bit and he headed back to bed. I continue my night watch, and my talk with God…
Lifting you and your son up in prayer. Praying God’s healing grace in this time of great need. Praying doctors will be guidied in providing the care needed to remove problem. Believing it is done!
BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!
believing and believing. Thanks Francine!!
Dear Kate, all my hopes are for the best possible outcome. You and your son are in my heart & thoughts.
Hi Gwen—thanks so very much. My husband, son, and I thank you with hearts filled with gratitude. Hoping you are doing well this day.
Kate, as a nurse I’d like to say that cellulitis is highly treatable and you did the right thing by going to the ER. The important thing is to take all the antibiotics as ordered – don’t miss any of the doses. If there’s a light bandage or dressing on the affected toe, just keep it clean and dry, change it as necessary. I know you’ll follow up with the doc. My prayers are with you.
thanks so much. they said to leave it exposed to air and for the weekend no ointments. his pain is intense. hopefully that will subside soon. His toes look somewhat better this afternoon. Other than when he is eating or heading to the bathroom he is resting on his back with feet elevated. The angriest toe looks somewhat less angry this afternoon.
Oh our poor Kate, what a lot you have to cope with and yet you never let these depressing things overflow into your writing…..
I am here to tell you ” Have no fear. Your Lord is here! All will be well”
Now I have that message on very good authority so believe it please as I know you will.
My thoughts , prayers and my heart go out to you and I wish your baby boy a speedy recovery..xxx
thanks so very much. keep praying for him. he is in a lot of pain today. the toes look a bit better today, but his pain level is high. His pain meds are helping some….
Praying with the peace of knowing that the prayers of the faithful are always answered.

Cellulitis is a skin infection…but I’ve had MRSA and that was a type of cellulitis as well. Just be careful and take the antibiotics and go back and get it checked!
Thanks Karina. It is a relief to know that you recovered from MRSA. That reassures me to know that should it head in that direction. thanks a bunch!!!
Not just once, Kate, but FOUR TIMES. The right antibiotic makes the difference. In my case, Bactrim. But they can do a test if they determine that it is MRSA to figure out which antibiotic it is sensitive to. Then they hit it with that.
BTW if it is MRSA, he can get an ointment for his nose to kill off any colonies–they live in the nose–and also there are things he can do to kill off anything that might be on his skin. Ask. My first doctor told me there was “nothing I could do”. After the third round, I fired him and went to Urgent Care on the 4th. That doctor told me what to do, and I’ve never had it again since.
Be vigilant, ask, and the standard is “if something changes, you go in”. Good luck!
thank you for that terrific, terrific information. As a matter of fact one of the 2 antibiotics he is on IS Bactrim. (The other is Keflex). His toes are definitely improving/moving in the right direction. We are being vigilant—and I will have them test about the antibiotic if it is MRSA–and insist on the antibiotic for the nose. WOW. You are a font of information and a wonderful advocate. Thanks—keep praing, it is helping! Thanks for your support!
Yes, Kate! I add my prayers and send my love. God is with him, and with you. oxo Debra
Thanks Debra—-I so appreciate your comments, prayers and support. hugs back–kate

HI Kate – Not long ago, my best girl friends sister was severely struggling with LUPUS. I told my friend that I wished to speak with her and just share with her –
One day, while my friend and I were out taking care of a few things she needed done that day, she had her sister along as they often took care of things to do for their mother.
While my friend took care of her business, I had a window of opportunity to talk with my girl friends sister about why, she needed to know that she is healed already because of all the Biblical context that is ours because God is the only Reality in the Universe and we are living images in HIs mind.
Just think about it, who can go into your mind and carve out your thoughts or ideas in a fashion greater than you (no one) the same goes with God. God is the only originator of man (all men) we are His original idea. When we turn our thoughts to God’s thoughts we can see clearly our true identity.
Christ Jesus gave us the power to see these truth when He, HImslef took on calvary and the selfish insecurities as well as the offenses of men (through Adam) – When Christ arose, He was saying literally to us (God’s children) You have power to realize who you are beyond your feelings, what ever they are, beyond all fears – You can know that through God’s power- Your body is my holy temple.
With that – not many days my friends sister was declared completely healed of LUPUS. All I’m saying is just take the time to acknowledge God as your only creator, and that your son is forever in HIs MInd, and nothing or noone can go into the MIND of God and remove your son, from God’s perfect image of him.
As you and your son meditate upon his likeness to God, watch and see creative miracles happen.
Remember this God can and will do anything to bless HIs Children St. Matthew 6:9 -12
I trust and believe that in the eyes of God and I allow myself to see and to view your son as whole as God sees him.
