Happy Easter! May Easter joy and peace fill your heart and soul. I am embedding an uplifting yet fun video….I find it joyous it makes me dance around my kitchen with my arms uplifted to God. After you watch that, I have the rest of this morning’s post.
I don’t know if it is because I am a woman or not. but My favorite gospel reading about Easter morning is John: 11-18. At that point Mary Magdalene had already seen that the stone was removed from the tomb, and ran and told Peter and John that someone has removed Jesus from the tomb and they didn’t know where they put Him. Peter and John ran to the tomb along with Mary Magdalene. Peter went in and found the tomb empty with the cloths rolled up. John went in, saw and believed. Then the men returned home. Now here comes my favorite part.
“But Mary stayed outside the tomb weeping. And as she wept, she bent over into the tomb and saw two angels in white sitting there, one at the head and one at the feet where the body of Jesus had been. And they said to her ‘Woman, why are you weeping?’ She said to them, ‘They have taken my Lord, and I don’t know where they laid Him.’ When she had said this, she turned around, and saw Jesus there, but did not know it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, ‘Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you looking for?’ She thought it was the gardener and said to him, “Sir, if you carried Him away, tell you where you laid him, and I will take him.’ Jesus said to her, “Mary!’ She turned to him and said to him in Hebrew, “Rabboni,’ which means Teacher. Jesus said to her “Stop holding on to Me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am going to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’ Mary of Magdala went and announced to the disciples, ‘I have seen the Lord,’ and what he told her.”
Mary Magdalene had devotedly followed Jesus throughout His ministry, to the cross, to the tomb, and on Easter morning was there at the tomb again to anoint Him with burial spices. He had transformed her life. Her gratitude for that stuck with her and transformed her….Don’t you just LOVE that???
Death and destruction are forever conquered…….we are His and He is ours. Alleluia.

Happy Easter to you, too Susan. I am so sorry you had a rough bout with the flu. I am glad you are starting to feel better. God bless you this week :_0
I love the pictures you included at the end of your post. I taught Early Childhood Sunday School for probably 30 years…really!–I did start when I was about 18 :-)–and I had these very same pictures in my collection. Easter was always one of the best Sundays to be with the children. They embraced the sense of wonder and joy so enthusiastically! The video is great, too! Debra
