Kind Words

“Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.”– Mother Teresa. I saw this quote today in a Daily Thought email I get from Simple Magazine. But I have seen this quote before. Mother Teresa was so good, kind, wise, holy, and inspirational.

Mother Teresa devoted her life to caring for and loving the sick, neglected, and downtrodden. We follow her example with each kind word, each thoughtful deed, and with each hurtful thing that happens to us that we do NOT return with hurtful things. Valentine’s Day is coming up. It is my fervent hope that we can make each day a day of love. Is that an Impossible Dream? Here are the words for To Dream the Impossible Dream. This song holds a very special place in my heart. For my 16th birthday my parents took me (and my brothers) to a dinner theater to see Man of La Mancha. I think of that day every time I hear this inspirational song. 

I have always been eager to set my hand and heart to causes and people I believe in. When I was in HS and college, there were certain girls who couldn’t resist falling for the “bad boy”. As for me, I loved causes, peers, and leaders that were inspirational, transformational people , life-changing. You know how certain people and ideas truly take your breath away? That is what I love. That is what gives me pause and gives me hope. That is what we always need; we need good, kind, life-affirming people. That is the community we are building here at WordPress through our blogs and through the other lives we touch. So is my dream an Impossible Dream–absolutely not!

The Impossible Dream

To dream…the impossible dream…
To fight…the unbeatable foe..
To bear…with unbearable sorrow…
To run…where the brave dare not go…
To right…the unrightable wrong…
To love…pure and chaste from afar…
To try…when your arms are too weary…
To reach…the unreachable star…

This is my quest, to follow that star…
No matter how hopeless, no matter how far…
To fight for the right, without question or pause…
To be willing to march into Hell, for a Heavenly cause…

And I know if I’ll only be true, to this glorious quest,
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm,
when I’m laid to my rest…
And the world will be better for this:

  2. Maybe one of my top 5 inspirational songs too. Thank you for the gentle reminder. Both passions for this song and Mother Theressa’s work and words are yet other likenesses that you & I parallel.

  4. I really love that song, too, and I’m inspired by your direction. I have always felt that being a person of purpose and cause is to experience a full life. I thought you might be interested in just a little anecdote…my boss met Mother Theresa at one time, and in her office has a beautiful, simple photo, accompanied by a handwritten note from Mother Theresa. I get to look at that every day! It’s amazing to watch people come into the office and their whole tone and demeanor changes on the spot! The letter is even written in pencil…she was really something! I hope she is deemed “Saint” at some point…even after her death she affects others with that love!! Debra
