Love the Light

I got this quote from one of my beloved cousins; it is beautiful. “I will love the light for it shows me the way, yet I will endure the darkness for it shows me the stars“. Og Mandino.

Now that is a lovely sentiment.  Imagine that—the darkness and sorrow in our lives can become a backdrop for the stars God provides to guide us home.  Either way we are given light, aren’t we? In the daytime when light abounds, God is there. It is easy to rejoice and optimistic when things are going along well. It isn’t a challenge to be hopeful in the good times. In the difficult times, it can be a challenge to be optimistic. Things can seem, and at times actually are, bleak. Yet, in the night, when it is dark–the stars are there and so is God.

So rejoice and hope we must. I look across the blogging world at the blogs and bloggers I have come to know and I say this; you are my touchstones.

You are my touchstones

Your optimism gives me hope. Each of us has days when things bring us down. When we do, we pick each other up, we bring each other home. When we know that each of us does their best to do that—it becomes like an old fashioned bucket brigade or barn raising, doesn’t it?
