Weekly Photo Challenge: Self Portrait. I did not want to post a photo of myself and I certainly cannot draw a picture of a person—especially of myself. I can do charcoal drawings of pumpkins, seashells, apples, gourds, vases, and onions. So I am going to use a photo of a charcoal drawing I did of an onion. Why an onion for a self-portrait? Like an onion, i am multifaceted and have many layers. Like this onion, I have shiny spots…those are the parts of me that God is a part of. Yes, God is everywhere. But sometimes I launch out of the harbor without him. Yep—I forget where the channel is and run the boat ashore. This particular photo of one of my onion sketches is my very favorite.

I am a perennial optimist
I Am Becoming the Me I Was Born To Be
As I journey through this part of my life I have discovered my next mountain. The key is to be the me I want to be in the world, as my gift back to God.-

Excellent choice … a wonderful ‘visual’ metaphor for what complex and fascinating creatures we are.
Thank you, Cheryl! We are wonderfully complex and fascinating, aren’t we?

thanks and you’re welcome. Hope your day is lovely.
I enjoyed your interpretation of the prompt.
And I like your new header.
Thanks, Tilly… still having a hard time doing the “crop the picture” thing….:-)
“The onion is the rose of the kitchen.”
And you are one of my favorite onions! 😀
I’ve never heard that expression before. I like it and thank you so much!
