Why I love Sundays….

Sundays do make me smile. We have wonderful traditions on Sunday. We start our Sunday on Saturday, for one thing. We go to Mass on Saturday for the vigil mass. Then we have family time after church….sometimes we go to a restaurant, sometimes dinner at home. The evening is spent in family time—-talk, laugh, play a game, watch a movie, catch up on the news and sometimes chores of the week. Hit the sack stress-free for a change.

Sunday morning we get up—I always like to watch the CBS Sunday Morning show (with Charles Osgood [major league wordmith]. Love the nature part in the closing minutes of the show each week. We then will turn on the radio while we make and eat brunch. One of the radio stations has a program called ‘Breakfast with the Beatles’. That is fun to listen to as there are all kinds of Beatles’ trivia along with the music. Besides that we sometimes listen to A Prairie Home Companion or another station that has a solid hour or two of stuff from broadway musical or yet another station that plays all-Sinatra for an hour or so. All nice and stress-free.

After brunch—more family time; sometimes grocery store or other errands…..of course come fall it will be football season and we will no doubt be watching football [college games on Saturday, NFL on Sunday]. Those are a different kind of relaxation and don’t de-stress me like the stuff I already mentioned. But we do enjoy it…..of course partway through football season (like early December) it gets a little old for me—but I enjoy it because my menfolk do. Heaven knows they watch all kinds of stuff for my sake and fair is fair!

Back to my original point. Sunday smiles upon us because on Sunday, even more that any other day–we and many others take the time to be with God in a special way.
