What will change now that Osama is gone?. I am writing this with the advantage of perspective,, as it is already August. However, Al Queda has not collapsed and the Middle East is still a mess. Others have stepped forward into the fray to lead Al Queda, and the battles and scuffles rage on. Those who were praising President Obama in May are now criticizing him, at least some of them. Massive retaliation by the Middle East towards the United States has not happened, at least yet. Overall the only thing that has changed is that Osama is dead. Well, one thing that has changed is that we no longer are seeing new videos of Osama on the evening news with a new “death to America” message.
We still have fighting troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Yes, I said Iraq. Despite what was reported months ago, we are still fighting in Iraq and we are still losing loved ones in Iraq—just not as many as we were.
