Postaday topic #99: Ever considered writing a book

Topic #99:

Have you ever considered writing a book? If so what would it be about? Make a list of the ideas you want to cover, or the themes it might have.  If you’ve never considered writing a book, what other major work have you thought about (a movie? a symphony?). Write a paragraph or two about what you imagine it would be like.

Well, of course I have thought about writing a book. I would love to write a book that is a collection of shorter non-fiction stories. These would be stories about heroic everyday folks. I think we have had enough of CSI and L& O in its resurrection. Just the same, we all need heroes and we all need uplifting stories.

I’d like to do a young adult series (for HS students and jr high students). I am not sure how to captivate them, but I would really like to. I want to link them to all kinds of literature resources. The literature I read as a kid, HS student, and college shaped my thinking, writing, and views. I would hope that they are reading some of the great literatire we did. We read literature with broad themes: To Kill a Mockingbird, The Grapes of Wrath, Uncle Tom’s Cabin, Crime and Punishment, The Scarlet letter, The Old Man and the Sea, For Whom the Bells Toll…plus a lot of Shakespeare….

I would love to be able to write a book that would move the students to think great thoughts and move beyond their own little worlds. I am still percolating my ideas…

About Kate Kresse

I love to write, I love to talk, I love to uplift people when I can. I am a woman in love with life. I am a wife, mom, tutor, writer, and I am a perennial optimist. (OK not every single minute but you get the point! :-)
