God provides us tranquil waters to float upon once we are through a storm. When the storm hits all we can do is batten down the hatches, put in that SOS call, and hang on for dear life. Right?
Today has been a tranquil day. Everything seems, feels and is lovely. A short visit with a dear friend, an excursion to my favorite bookstore, a walk to the park. Tonight a lecture at an uptown art gallery; subject using humor in difficult times. God blesses us with the gift of laughter and humor. The Irish part of me treasures the value of humor during trying times.
When one of my Irish great uncles died back when I was little, the cars were getting ready to head from the church to the cemetary. It was pouring rain. One of his sons (one of my mom’s contemporaries) went from car to car, holding his umbrella up against the torrential rain. When he got to our car, the driver rolled down the window, he leaned into the car and said “Ah, it’s been called on account of rain”…much laughter through the tears. Of course it hadn’t been called, but what a wonderful way to handle the immediate grief. On to the cemetary we all drove, all of our hearts lightened immensely.
May your evening be blessed with some laughter…..know that God is behind you to tickle you a wee bit. love to you
