I would love to go back in time and pilot the Apollo 11. However, I would also want to pilot the LEM. I mean if you are going all the way to the moon, you want to be one of the ones that actually gets to walk around on the moon!! I would love to have been able to squeeze into the rocket and go with the mission..
Perhaps i should have said I wanted to pilot the LEM. . . even more than the Apollo 11 rocket. How thrilling to be able to feel the massive vibrations as Apollo 11 left the launching pad and headed off to orbit! The technology had advanced so quickly from the time Sputnik went up until the apollo 11 landed on the moon. The country collectively held its breath during these years. Of course, at that time, women didn’t get to be astronauts. That would be years later—and on the Space Shuttle.
If I picked a fictious vehicle I suppose I would fly around with Han Solo and Luke Skywalker. But that is another story for another day!
