Grab a sentence from the nearest….Jump to paragraph 3, second sentence. Write it in a post. Bonus: Make up a sentence to follow the first one, but make it go in an entirely different direction than the actual book or website does.
The book near me is Who Moved My Cheese? by Stephen Johnson M.D. My husband is reading it for an upcoming seminar. The second sentence is: “They knew he had gone into his family’s business, which had operated pretty much the same and had been a part of the local community for as long as they could remember”. This simple sentence creates a host of images in my mind. It makes me wonder whether the he in the sentence was old and stodgy, a fired-up booster for the town, or a traditionalist that respected the legacy his family began. my proposed third sentence is: “They were stunned to hear him explain that he was considering either discontinuing operations in the town, or switching away from manufacturing furniture to mass producing caskets that people would purchase ahead of time but use as a huge hope chest until the time comes to use it for its original purpose”.
