What is the smallest thing? Atoms, molecules, and quarks aside, I am going to write about the smallest thing near me that I can see with my own eyes, without the use of a microscope or magnifying glass. That would be a coffee bean. I made coffee today using coffee beans. I put the beans in my coffee bean grinder, ground them up and tossed them into the coffee maker. Apparently, when I dumped them into the grinder, one of the coffee beans got away. Our kitten (named BOGO) started batting it around the counter. I noticed it beside the telephone as I sat to drink my coffee this morning. He is a silly, playful kitten and growing up quickly. He is the delight of the other pets and us. So self-actualized too—who else could make a toy out of a coffee bean?? You can tell when he bats things around that he feels so smart. He makes this sound that is a cross beteen actually purring and meowing…simultaneously. It is so cute. So smallest thing? Little coffee bean.
