Postaday topic #25: What is your favorite sound?

Topic #25  What is your favorite sound? I’m going to cheat a little bit in blogging about my favorite sound. If you will indulge me you will see why. I am going to say that my favorite sound is the sound of water. It could be ocean waves on the shore. It could be the sound of the river flowing by as I sit on the sandbar of the Mississipi River. It could be the sound of a lake lapping against a dock or moving against a rowboat or canoe as you row or paddle. It could be the sound of the rain gently hitting the screens on the porch while you sit with your honey on the porch swing. It could be the sound of the rain on a chilly fall night, as it hits the roof while you lie cozy in your bed. All of these involve water (but I do not like the sound of a drippy leaky faucet ;-)).

I love to sit in a chair or on my towel right by the ocean. i close my eyes and put my head back a little bit and just listen. I can hear the seagulls, I can hear those ocean waves—small or big, love them both. I find that sound so calming, so restorative, so stress reducing. My mind ultimately turns to God as I sit there. Each wave is like hearing God inhale (water rolling seaward) and exhale (water hitting the shore)….is God blowing me a kiss with each ocean wave? Why, yes—I do believe He is….Hello God—thank you so much for the sound of water!
